AN INTERNATIONAL BESTSELLERWITH A NEW PREFACE'Masterly... Utterly compelling... A highly readable and engaging tour' Sam Freedman, The TimesFrom the New York Times bestselling author of The Signal and the Noise, the definitive guide to our era of risk—and the players raising the stakesIn the bestselling The Signal and the Noise, Nate Silver showed how forecasting would define the age of Big Data. Now, in this timely and riveting new book, Silver investigates 'The River,' or those whose mastery of risk allows them to shape—and dominate—so much of modern life. These professional risk takers—poker players and hedge fund managers, crypto true-believers and blue-chip art collectors—can teach us much about navigating the uncertainty of the 21st century. By embedding within these worlds, Silver offers insight into a range of issues that affect us all, from the frontiers of finance to the future of AI.

The River has increasing amounts of wealth and power in our society, and understanding their mindset—including the flaws in their thinking—is key to understanding what drives technology and the global economy today. There are certain commonalities in this otherwise diverse group: high tolerance for risk; appreciation of uncertainty; affinity for numbers; skill at de-coupling; self-reliance and a distrust of the conventional wisdom. For the River, complexity is baked in, and the work is how to navigate it, without going beyond the pale.

Taking us behind-the-scenes from casinos to venture capital firms to meetings of the effective altruism movement, On the Edge is a deeply-reported, all-access journey into a hidden world of powerbrokers and risk takers.

Good quality and arrived quickly
Color: Black
I was very pleased with how easy this chair was to set up. Affordable, arrived quickly. The only reason it isn’t 5/5 is because on of the arms had a small dent, possibly due to not enough bubble wrap during shipping. Other than that, the quality is great.

Awesome chair so far
Color: Black
My old chair can go in the trash immediately because it set the bar so low (picked up from a giveaway - squeaked anytime it's leaned on, always sinking upon sitting on it). This Ergonomic chair blew it out of the water. Happy with this purchase. This chair took me an hour to assemble, which I expected. It feels extremely sturdy and comfortable. Lumbar support feels great! I love the various adjustability options this chair offers. Hope it lasts for many years. By the way, I am 175 lbs, 5'10".

Good buy
Color: Black
Very comfortable. Solid chair. Lumbar support helps a lot. Posture in this chair is great. Lots of support. Seems like a relatively skinny chair though - I wouldn't imagine it to be comfortable for a larger person.

Check components for imperfections
Color: Black, Color: Black
Just finished putting the chair together, and while there were some nice touches (gloves to wear while assembling) and manual very easy to understand, there are more steps than are customary for a basic chair. However, two main gripes are (1) bought Saturday for $129.99, today it is listed for $89.99 (2) out of the box, the mesh back of the chair has a small tear in it. Unsure if it will end up being a long-term issue, but irritating all the same.
